CYNTHIA PHIBEL
Born in 1979, Guadeloupe (FWI).
I explore intimacy, in this time of zapping, mass-media and reality show ; my work interrogates what emerges from encounters with different people, here and there ; these meetings are witnessed through photography and found objects; through installations, I explore the limits between private and public spaces;
These symbolic objects generate an unexpected and unpredictable situation that is the core of the work itself; moreover, the meaning of my work comes back and forth, is obvious but sometimes hidden, through the stories I use; it creates what could be read as a fragmented aesthetic: to build the work as a World; the world as a syncretic place where codes and data coexist more than merge; therefore, in my work, I want to stress some antinomies : private/public; in/out; mobility/immobility; old/new…
