Jean-luc de Laguarigue
Born in Martinique in 1956
Jean-Luc de Laguarigue’s first aim as a photographer was to show the face of Martinique by taking portraits of the people there and also of the activities, tools and objects which embody the Creole soul. However, his photographic eye is also capable of revealing to us the invisible forces of globalisation which are disfiguring his country.
The fact that is work does not belong to any known trend or category shows that it is opening up a new photographic space.
