MARTINIQUE
Contemporary art residency program in Vauclin, Martinique
The non-profit association AMAC (Martinique Association for Contemporary Art), located in Vauclin, Martinique, organizes every year up to three residencies for artists.
Artists are invited for a two to four-week-stay. During that period of time, they are invited to create a unique and original artistic project, inspired by the local insular context.
The whole island becomes their studio.
Whether photographers, painters, video artists, sculptors, the artists find their inspiration in Martinique’s nature and culture. That is what make these artworks made-in-Martinique unique.
Later, once exhibited abroad, in museum or gallery shows, or during art fairs, these local artworks are genuine witnesses of Martinique’s patrimonial richness.
