THE REVIEW ARTHEME,
ARTHEME is a quarterly review of around 50 pages dedicated to contemporary Caribbean art.
Published since 1999, this associative review created by volunteers attempts to develop explanatory and constructive art criticism, and to reinforce the links between artists and institutions in the Caribbean.
ARTHEME offers an exceptional space for promoting local cultural life which cannot be found in other newspapers or other more commercial magazines. Apart from its art criticism, the review has since its debut regularly devoted a number of pages to presenting activities and events of Martinique's cultural institutions.
ARTHEME contributes to spread awareness of them in the Caribbean cultural network.
ARTHEME is also a teaching tool which reproduces works from the Caribbean, thus providing teachers with images which they can use in class, something which they rather lacked before.
ARTHEME gradually builds up an overall view of the whole of our region's artistic creation, and thus becomes a documentary source for teachers as well as the general public, for today and in years to come.
ARTHEME is an important cultural link between the different regions of the West Indian archipelago, playing a key part in circulating information about the artistic life of the islands.
ARTHEME is a promotional tool for the artists of the Caribbean.
